"Me and My Dog"
This program emphasizes child safety around dogs. The program teaches
your child how to "read" a dog's body language so they can be safe from
bites. The children are taught approriate games to play with thier
own family dog. This method of home obedience emphasizes leadership roles
specifically for that child. Art projects are also involved throughout
the four week program.
AKC Junior Handler Program
This program allows me to serve as a mentor for young people who would
like to run a dog in any AKC Hunt Test event. Being the future of our sport
of competing retrievers, young people get a chance to build their confidence.
The AKC provides a fine program that earns recognition for all the young
people who apply. Good sportsmanship and safety are taught along with emergency
first aid and understanding how to run a trial according to the AKC rule
book. A rule book is provided.

Kids In The Field
This program serves as an introduction to emergency field first
aid and running their own dogs on marks. Because of the nature of hunt
test events, the children will also learn how to throw bumbers or decoys
and how to use a duck call. These practices will also teach the dog to respond
to whistle blasts, quartering drills and water marks. Any dog that cannot
swim, will be allowed to ball retrieve. For children who don't own working
or hunting breeds,we will practice off-leash field obedience.
