Where I'm Coming From: "The Field dbtexas
Dog & the Joy of the Field"

Training young gun dogs in my puppy head start program involves teaching the "basics" in the yard. The key to any good field dog is bird exposure at an early age. For the past nine years as a pro-trainer, I have trained hundreds of AKC (American Kennel Club) Junior Hunters & started gun dogs. My previous veternary assistant job lasted 14 years, so I am always sharing emergency field aid with my hunting clients. I believe in instilling the joy of the field in a young dog...something that will  last a lifetime. You do not need to be heavy handed to get the best results in the field. Once you understand how to train your dog yourself, you can really get to the business of enjoying your hunting experience. Trained retrievers conserve game... they are something to be proud of.
